About Tomintoul 17 Year Old - 2005 - Pedro Ximenez Sherry Cask Finish - Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The 17 Years Old Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish was distilled in 2005 and matured initially in American ex-bourbon oak casks before being finished in the finest Pedro Ximénez Sherry butts from Fernando de Castilla in Andalucía, Spain.
 
These sherry butts perfectly complement Tomintoul Single Malt by imparting rich fruit flavours, which enhance the character and complexity of this whisky.
 
The end result is a rich, sweet and fruity whisky, which is has been bottled at 46% abv and is non-chill filtered.
 
Limited release of only 9,870 individually numbered bottles

 

Tasting Notes.

Nose: A rich bouquet of prunes and sweet spices married with treacle, dates and toasted oak.


Palate: Sweet and robust with layers of maple syrup, candied nuts, marmalade, salted caramel and chocolate ganache with cosy cinnamon and clove spices.


Finish: Warming and long with notes of brittle toffee and cacao fading into a dried fig and espresso coffee glow.
