A tribute to Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky and founder of Nikka. As a disciplined craftsman, Taketsuru has always been in search of perfection in the art of blending his whiskies, a personality trait that inspired Nikka to create the Taketsuru Pure Malt. This whisky is a blend of casks from Yoichi and Miyagikyo, Nikka's two distilleries, and showcases an exquisite balance between great softness and deep complexity.
Nose: Fruity. Marked by citrus aromas like orange, but also by juicy pear notes. Complex and expressive, the nose evolves and reveals light herbaceous notes with a hint of peat and a slight bitterness, as it flows from orange to grapefruit.
Palate: Round and delicate. Cereal flavours stand alongside sweet spice with a touch of cardamom. At the same time, candied fruit notes appear with a more assertive character, lending it depth and length.
Finish: In line with the palate, a slight but discreet bitterness comes along with some peatiness, somewhat reminiscent of a full-bodied dark chocolate.
