About Oxford Rye Batch #005 - Red Red Rye


The reddest of the ryes, batch #005 is the result of a love affair between the hertiage grains of The Oxford Artisan Distillery, new American oak casks and three sweet wine casks; a Pedro Ximenez butt and two vintage port barriques. 

 

Aroma: Violets and Christmas tree with rich, dark fruit, hazelnut and chocolate notes. Old wine and earthiness on the finish. 

Palate: The earthiness from the rye and sweetness from the casks combine with hints of berries, ginger and fudge in a pine forest. 

Finish: Refreshing spices play with mint and complex wine tannins that will develop with time.
