About Glen Scotia – Icons of Campbeltown – The Mermaid - 12yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky

We are delighted to Introduce the Icons of Campbeltown, a new series from Glen Scotia distillery, and its inaugural entry.

This is the first release of five annual limited-editions.

Release No 1

The Mermaid

A celebration of The Campbeltown Market Cross – a community meeting point for storytelling – each release in this annual five part series takes its inspiration from the series of saints and beasts carved into the cross’ face. Glen Scotia has partnered with celebrated artist, Joel Holtzman (Lucasfilm, Marvel, Disney, Macmillan) to bring each of these icons to life.

Glen Scotia’s whisky is shaped by its coastal climate. Whether real or just the result of a dram too many, mermaid sightings along the coast are an unnervingly reoccurring theme, especially in the 1800’s when distilling in the town was growing to new heights. To mark this icon, the managers have selected a subtly coastal, floral and delicate unpeated twelve-year-old single malt whisky, and finished it in Palo Cortado sherry casks for  8 months - a rare choice almost as special as mermaids.

Tasting Notes

A sweet and nutty character interwoven with subtle maritime nuances, bracing Atlantic sea breeze notes on the nose, and that signature Glen Scotia saltiness on the palette.
