Girvan Patent Still Proof Strength Single Grain Scotch Whisky.
In 1963 the Girvan Patent Still ran with spirit. Almost three decades later in 1992 William Grants installed a pioneering new still which they named ‘No. 4 Apps’ – a distillery term for ‘apparatus’.
The unique still, operated under a vacuum, permits distillation at low temperatures. Delivering a pure, vibrant and fruity single grain spirit, ripe for maturation in vanilla rich American Oak.
This unique single grain whisky is distilled from two multi-pressure stills – No.4 and No.5 Apps. The vacuum distillation, at low temperature, creates a pure, fruity and intense spirit perfect for maturation in vanillin rich American Oak.
The Girvan Patent Still Proof Strength has a surprisingly mellow taste profile for a higher strength variant in line with the deliciously different profile of the brand. The extra strength brings out the vibrant, zesty notes of the whisky; giving it an extra intensity of flavour. Punchy on the palate with an unexpectedly light aftertaste, the whisky has a lingering sweet vanilla creaminess.
Highly recommended by our taste team.
