Unapologetically edgy, this limited-edition whisky was inspired by the daring attitude of Ardbeg and its community. The bottling draws its inspiration from Islay’s little-known 1970s punk scene.
Ardbeg Ardcore is intense, and has all the powerful peatiness you expect of Ardbeg with notes of charcoal and sweet smoke plus a long, lingering finish. The addition of unconventional roasted black malt lends a sharpness to the flavour for a whisky that’s full of substance and attitude.
Non chill-filtered and bottled at 46% ABV.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Pale, translucent gold.
Nose: Spicy and savoury with waves of Marmite, burnt toast, chicory, charcoal and coffee. A classic Ardbeg herbal top note is present, while smoky bonfire and molasses aromas loiter backstage.
Palate: A spicy and fiery mouthfeel leads to an explosion of rich, smoky flavours – cocoa powder, dark chocolate, peanut brittle toffee, smoked lime and a hint of soot and bonfire embers. Amped-up aniseed and malty biscuit elbow their way to the fore.
