Bunnahabhain Fèis Ìle 2022 - Abhainn Araig - Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Abhainn Araig means ‘ Araig River,’ which is a river located on Islay. This river feeds in to the Margadale River, the spring water source for all of the Bunnahabhain whisky. The Araig water is vital to the production process at Bunnahabhain, as it feeds the distillery with the cooling water for the condensers.

Bunnahabhain Abhainn Araig is a tribute to Bunnahabhain and to Islay, and the bodies of water that are a vital life source for the distillery.

Inspired by the waters of Islay, this velvety rich dram was created to celebrate Fèis Ìle 2022, the most important festival on Islay and within the whisky community.

A marriage of Bunnahabhain spirit that has been matured in ex Pedro Ximenez sherry, octave casks, made from the finest specially seasoned European oak.
Octave casks are some of the smallest and most concentrated casks, producing a rich, sticky, intense Bunnahabhain. This spirit has then been expertly married with Bunnahabhains that have been matured in ex bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, to create complexity and balance.

 

Colour: Golden syrup

Nose: Chocolate, powdered ginger and cigar box.


Taste: a velvety rich texture , initially creamy milk chocolate then sweet raisins and dried raspberries. As the PX develops balsamic vinegar and honeyed macadamias come through.


Finish: deep and rich , with dark toffee and a final spicy burst of cinnamon.
