Glen Moray Madeira Cask Project Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This is the third release in the Elgin Curiosity Range: Glen Moray Madeira Cask Project.

Just seven of these casks were laid down in 2006, tucked away for nearly 14 years in Warehouse 1 – home to the distillery’s maturation experiments and unusual casks. This is where they would have remained, if not for the curious new head of whisky creation Dr Kirstie McCallum who found them, tasted them and insisted they should be shared with whisky drinkers.

Glen Moray new make spirit has been matured exclusively in ex-sweet Madeira hogsheads for 13 years and 10 months. The resulting whisky is superb, featuring Glen Moray’s classic Speyside-style with the luxurious sweet fruit and toffee influences of the ex-Madeira wood.

Only 1,428 bottles have been released as a UK exclusive.

Tasting Notes.

Nose: Toffee, dark chocolate, fig, and dates balanced with sweet pears and creamy berries and subtle exotic spices.

Palate: Sweet and syrupy, with deep notes of toffee, chocolate, black coffee, and figs, developing to sweet oak, poached pears, and soft fruit.

Finish: Rich, lingering, and sweet with gentle exotic spices and dried fruit.
