An excellent Independent bottling of Macallan released by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Speymalt Collection.
The expression was distilled in 2005 and aged in first fill and refill sherry butts before bottling in 2019.
The sherry casks greatly influence the whisky with notes of red apple, honey and lemon.
The palate is more feisty than the nose suggests with a pleasant dash of peppery spice initially with banana loaf and orange zest emerging.
The finish is lovely, creamy milk chocolate of medium length, very moreish.
