This is one of the most recent editions of the now famous Octomore Range, aged for 5 years in first fill American oak casks from Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace and Jack Daniels. Distilled in 2013, using 100% Scottish grown concerto barley.
59.8% ABV and 107 ppm.
Colour : Pale golden.
Character : Lithe, supple, powerfully confident and a dram more than the sum of its parts. Slow trickle distillation is the hallmark of this muscular, oily spirit.
Nose : Vanilla led, caramel, hints of smoke but tamed back. candied apple, gooseberry and marzipan.
Palate : Soft yet powerful and warming on the palate, peppery, barley sugar, smokey – dried earth and hints of rubber. Warm sand, sweetness of charred oak and pineapple.
Finish : Sweetness from tablet/fudge and a strong peat smoke and cold marine air combination.
