This is the eighth annual Loch Gorm Single Malt to be released by Kilchoman. Each release is differentiated by the distillation and bottling dates on the front of the bottle and gift carton.
Kilchoman’s Loch Gorm releases are traditionally matured in ex Oloroso sherry casks from the renowned bodega, Jose Miguel Martin and this latest edition is no exception.
These ex-oloroso sherry casks impart a combination of heavy sherry notes, spicy dark chocolate, rich fruits and burnt sugar. This balances beautifully with the Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus fruits found within this farm crafted spirit.
Loch Gorm, exclusively sherry matured limited edition has been a feature of the Kilchoman range since 2012. The 2019 release is made up of twenty oloroso sherry butts from 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011, meaning that for the first time Loch Gorm will contain 12 and 13-year-old casks.Loch Gorm is the only global release matured solely in sherry casks, with its combination of rich sherry notes, cooked fruits and subtle Islay peat.
This range is named after a famously peaty loch over looked by the distillery; Kilchoman draws water for the production of Loch Gorm and their other releases from the burn that runs into the loch.

Layers of stewed plums, pears and tropical fruit have become more defined in the casks as they age, complimenting the bold spicy and rich character of early releases to create a beautiful marriage of Kilchoman and oloroso sherry cask maturation.
