This expression is part of the new Glenfiddich Experimental Series that pushes Scotch whisky boundaries by collaborating with trailblazers in the world of whisky and beyond to unlock new whisky possibilities.
The third in the Glenfiddich Experimental Series from Malt Master Brian Kinsman, this Speyside single malt has been finished for six months in French oak icewine casks from the renowned Peller Estate winery in Niagara, Canada.
Brian Kinsman, is constantly on the lookout for ingenious innovations in Scotch whisky. So when he travelled to Canada, he made a point of visiting a winemaker at a renowned winery in Niagara. Despite the freezing January weather, Brian braved the tour of the vineyards, where he learned how the grapes had to be picked by moonlight at -10 degrees centigrade when they were as hard as pebbles. These stories about extreme conditions and the unique production process of the intensely sweet Icewine were inspirational.
Nose : A bouquet of tropical fruit and candied sweets are perfectly balanced with underlying wine notes.
Taste : Soft sweet notes reminiscent of candied fruit and Turkish delight develop into flavours of mouth watering lychee. The fusion of sweet flavours is soon met with a rich drying sensation from the icewine.
Finish : Short and crisp.
