A new Limited Edition offering from the Bunnahabhain Distillery.
Bunnahabhain, meaning ‘Mouth of the river’ in gaelic was established in 1881 and built close to the mouth of the Margadale river. It is the only distillery on Islay to produce whisky using pure spring water.
It is the most northerly of the Islay Distilleries – situated on the north east tip of the island and overlooks the Sound of Islay, a vast stretch of sea travelled by many a seafarer, as illustrated by the helmsman on the pack, Bunnhabhain’s wonderfully remote location makes it an idyllic place for whisky distillation.
The multi award winning Bunnhabhain has become synonymous with exceptional quality and for stepping outside of the ‘norm’ with its welcoming and complex taste of ‘unpeated’ Islay – produced using Unpeated Malted barley and spring water.
This limited edition Bunnahabhain Moine Oloroso is a complex single malt with rich layers of raisins, dried fruits, toffee and peppery smokiness. This Bunnahabhain Moine (meaning ‘peat’ in Scots Gaelic) was laid down in only 7 Oloroso casks and left to fully mature taking on the wood and sherry influences in the sea-facing warehouse No.7 on the shore at Bunnahabhain. The result is a side of Bunnahabhain that is not often revealed. Pure in colour and strength this rich and complex Single malt delivers a wonderful combination of intense peat and sherry sweetness that rewards and delights.
