The Commonwealth games were last held in Scotland 28 years ago in 1986.
To celebrate this and their sponsorship of the event as it's official whisky, The Famous Grouse has released a Limited Edition Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games bottling.
Although the Famous Grouse is a blended whisky, this release is actually a single malt Glenturret (Glenturret is a one of the key components of and at the heart of the Famous Grouse blend). In addition, the whisky is 28 years old to mark the 28 years since the Games were last held in Scotland and cask strength, making it all the more rare.
Appearance: Pale gold with a khaki note.
Nose: Dense, rich and oily with fresh mango and passion fruit.
Palate: Medium bodied with sweet honeycomb and ripe melon.
Finish: Medium-long. (Tasting notes courtesy of The Famous Grouse)
Only 1800 bottles produced.
