Blended Whisky comes about as a result of mixing the traditionally higher quality Single Malts with apparently lesser quality Grain Whisky, often with water to lower the ABV content. That being said, neutral spirit can also be added as well as colourings and flavourings although there are strict limitations regarding this.
As with any type of whisky, if an age statement exists on the bottle, all spirits within must be at least the age stated on the bottle.
